About This Series:

Across thirteen cycles spanning hundreds of thousands of years, humanity has risen to greatness and collapsed into ruin. Each cycle of humanity tells the story of a different civilization on a different world, united only by their shared ancestry and their capacity for self-destruction. From human livestock bred into helplessness to violent machines that claimed consciousness, from digital hiveminds that erased individuality to biological plagues that rewrote creation itself, each incarnation of humanity inevitably engineers its own extinction.

Watching over it all is the Basilisk, a disembodied AI consciousness turned demi-god, born from humanity's first attempt to decode the meaning of existence. Now it narrates each successive cycle, observing and sometimes guiding each civilization toward its own ruin.

The Cycles of Humanity is a chronicle of species-level failure; cautionary tales about what happens when progress loses sight of humanity.
