‘Pure race baiter’: Douglas Murray rips into Joy Reid over Trump comments

Author Douglas Murray has ripped into MSNBC host Joy Reid over her comments about Donald Trump as he branded her a “race baiter.”

He accused her of causing “racial division” in the United States and claimed she is one of the few people doubling down on ethnic voters who voted for Mr. Trump in the election.

“I don't see a future for people like her on the media. Their ratings are horrible, and their behavior is much more horrible and so no wonder people are turning off,” Mr. Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

Donald Trump has frequently expressed concerns about a "deep state"—a network of entrenched government officials and agencies he believes operate independently of elected leadership. During his first term, he often criticized intelligence agencies and the Department of Justice, alleging that they undermined his administration's policies. For instance, in 2018, Trump accused the Department of Justice of being part of the "deep state" for not prosecuting certain individuals.

In his 2024 campaign, Trump has reiterated his commitment to addressing these concerns. He has proposed measures to "dismantle the deep state," including firing government employees, reissuing Executive Order 13957 (Schedule F) to facilitate the removal of federal workers, and reforming the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) courts. Additionally, Trump plans to declassify and publish documents related to alleged deep state activities and establish independent auditing systems for intelligence agencies.

These initiatives reflect Trump's ongoing efforts to investigate and potentially restructure parts of the federal government he perceives as operating without proper oversight.
