Yes, there were people in Russia arrested for old crimes, and yes, there was a plane crash that Azerbaijan blamed on Russia. But if we look a little closer, there might be a bigger plan behind all this. Azerbaijan is getting closer with Turkey, and Turkey is part of NATO, which Russia doesn’t like. Some say Russia feels like it’s losing control over parts of the South Caucasus, a region it used to keep a tight grip on.
