Rising Wave of Cough Coughs Likely This Winter
Are my comments meant to make people anxious about the upcoming months and the winter ahead in the northern hemisphere? Yes, in a way, because I'm genuinely concerned.
I often use this exercise: imagine it's February 2020, and you know everything that will happen with the pandemic. If you went back in time to warn people, no one would believe you about the lockdowns or the millions of lives lost to a virus spreading worldwide.
That disbelief is similar to how I feel now when I try to describe the looming challenges ahead. I use the word *tsunami* because it creates a vivid image, but in reality, it's more like a storm surge. If you've ever been on a beach where the water pulls far out, and you're distracted, picking up stones, only to suddenly realize the water has crept behind you, then you understand the situation. The water rushes back so fast that before you can react, you're trapped.
That's where we are now—on the beach, unaware of the fast-approaching surge. It's not a single, towering wave, but the danger is still immense and coming quickly.
