You Won’t BELIEVE What PERU Just Did To TRANSGENDERS!

The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, has recently signed a controversial decree that classifies transgender and non-binary identities as mental illnesses.

This policy change marks a significant political shift for Boluarte, who was previously a member of the left-leaning and socialist Free Peru party before being expelled and moving towards the political right.

The decree issued by Peru's Health Ministry now officially considers conditions such as transsexualism, dual role transvestism, gender identity disorder in childhood, and other gender identity disorders as mental illnesses. The government argues that this classification is meant to ensure that individuals with these identities receive full coverage for mental health treatment. According to President Boluarte, the decree aims to provide psychological treatment freely to those affected, framed as a measure to respect the dignity and human rights of the individuals by offering health services for their benefit.

This policy has sparked significant controversy and debate, highlighting the broader political and social dynamics surrounding LGBTQ+ rights in Peru.
