Cotton Urges House To Impeach Biden Over Israel Weapons Controversy

A Republican senator has called for the GOP-led House to impeach President Joe Biden following his suggestion that the United States could suspend weapons shipments to Israel in the event of a full-scale ground operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) drew parallels to the first impeachment probe against former President Donald Trump, citing the withholding of security aid to Ukraine during the 2020 election. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) accused Biden of betraying a deal made with lawmakers to pass a $95 billion foreign aid bill that included support for Israel. Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) stated he was preparing articles of impeachment, emphasizing that the House had no choice. However, the level of support for Cotton's push for an Israel-focused impeachment remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Biden faces a corruption inquiry led by Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY). Democratic strategist Kevin Walling argued on Fox News that Biden's actions are akin to foreign policy tactics employed by past presidents, while contrasting Trump's impeachment over seeking information on Biden from Ukraine.
