Australia’s PM hints at the necessity of a “Social License” to post memes

Seriously? Now we need a permission slip to post memes?

The Minister of Communications seems to think that regulating meme-sharing is the solution to all our problems. Maybe instead of restricting our online freedom, they should focus on real issues like healthcare or education. This is just another example of politicians trying to control every aspect of our lives under the guise of “protecting democracy.” Give me a break.

Update from Australia's PM — you're going to need a Social License to post memes.

"Parliament needs to understand how social media companies dial up and down the content that supports healthy democracies, as well as the anti-social content that undermines public safety." –… t.co/iHH0xbDG3p pic.twitter.com/Tg3U3WUG91
