The passage in Genesis 5:24, stating "Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, for God took him away," has sparked much speculation about Enoch's fate. Some interpret it to mean that he did not experience death but was taken up alive into heaven by God.

In Jewish mysticism, Enoch becomes the Archangel Metatron, favored by God and transformed from human to angelic status. Despite Enoch's significance, the Book of Enoch was never accepted into the Christian Bible canon, raising questions about his omission from mainstream church teachings.

Ukrainian MP wants children punished for speaking Russian

An MP in Ukraine has proposed a new law preventing schoolchildren from speaking to each other in any language but Ukrainian, even outside of the classroom. Natalya Pipa claims that the mandatory use of the official language in class is not sufficient to ensure its dominance. A large proportion of Ukrainian citizens can speak or understand both Russian and Ukrainian, particularly in the east of the country. However, since the 2014 coup, the new authorities have abolished Russian as an official regional language, and adopted policies aimed at its suppression. According to the government in Kiev, the language constitutes a threat to national unity and security. Russia has repeatedly denounced these steps as discrimination.
