Why Stores Are Removing Self-Checkout Stands

Lately, numerous retailers like Costco, Walmart, and Kroger have been removing self-checkout stands.

Despite the current emphasis on advanced AI technology, it's surprising to see these companies opting for human cashiers over self-checkouts. While image recognition technology continues to improve, humans are prone to errors and can call in sick. Yet, companies are reintroducing human cashiers into the equation.

What is it about this new technology that falls short, making self-checkout kiosks inadequate?
