The National Border Patrol Council Criticizes Biden Administration - No plans to remove the razor wire installed by the Texas National Guard
The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), with over 18,000 members, released a statement supporting the Texas National Guard's efforts to secure the southern border. They criticized the Biden administration's border policies as "catastrophic" and expressed appreciation for Texas' measures to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. The NBPC emphasized the cooperation between Texas National Guard members and Border Patrol agents, stating that if the Texas National Guard has lawful orders, they must carry them out.
In response to a recent Supreme Court ruling granting Border Patrol agents the authority to cut through razor wire to allow illegal immigrants into the country, Texas Governor Greg Abbott reaffirmed the use of razor wire to deter illegal border crossings. The Daily Wire reported that Texas authorities have not only maintained existing razor wire fortifications but have also added razor wire to border barriers. Additionally, they continue to prevent Border Patrol from establishing a presence at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass.
The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) clarified that rank-and-file Border Patrol agents are not obstructing Texas National Guard troops from carrying out their lawful orders, and vice versa. The NBPC emphasized that both parties understand and respect each other's orders, stating that all lawful orders must be followed, regardless of popularity, while unlawful orders will not be followed.
The NBPC criticized the Biden administration for its border policies and their negative impact on the United States. They expressed appreciation for Texas' efforts to defend the state amid what they called a catastrophe unleashed by the Biden administration. The NBPC denied any conflict between rank-and-file Border Patrol agents and the Texas National Guard, Governor Abbott, or the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), refuting claims of discord as untrue.
A senior Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official informed Fox News that there are currently no plans to remove the razor wire installed by the Texas National Guard following the Supreme Court's ruling. The official emphasized the strong relationship between Border Patrol, Texas DPS, and the Texas Military Department, stating that their focus remains on the mission of protecting the country and its people. They reiterated their commitment to working alongside these partners in fulfilling that mission.
