Dr. S. Matthew Liao, a professor of philosophy and bioethics at New York University, has proposed the concept of "human engineering" as a potential strategy to address climate change. In his 2012 paper titled "Human Engineering and Climate Change," co-authored with Anders Sandberg and Rebecca Roache, Liao explores biomedical modifications to humans aimed at reducing our environmental impact.   One proposal involves inducing an aversion to red meat consumption. Given that livestock farming contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, Liao suggests that pharmacologically inducing mild intolerance to meat could decrease its consumption. UNRWA Confirms Over 300 Staff Killed Amid Israeli Strikes in Gaza, Escalating Humanitarian Crisis

In May 2025, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that over 300 of its staff members have been killed since the beginning of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza in October 2023. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated that the majority were teachers, medics, and aid workers , many of whom died with their families while sheltering in or near UN facilities. This figure marks the highest staff death toll in UN history and highlights the intensity of the conflict.
