When Mae Keane was let go from her prestigious job at a factory, painting watch dials with glow in the dark paint, she never imagined she would want to thank her boss years later. For in just a few years, the watch dial painters fell ill by the dozens, impaired by all manner of vicious diseases. Their teeth fell out, their jaws came unhinged, their legs snapped under their own weight, and even their spines crumbled.
